Candlemas procession, St. Stanislaus Church,
7 February 2010

The officers of the Society wish to thank all who made our
festive observance of Candlemas on Sunday, 7 February,
at St. Stanislaus Church such a splendid and uplifting
celebration.

We thank The Rev. John Ringley; master of ceremonies
William Riccio, Jr.; assisting masters of ceremonies Jeffrey
Collins and Michael Nazzaro; acolytes Jacob Horvath and
Glenn Nelson; thurifer Anthony Carpanzano; and crucifer
Michael Murphy; and the members of the Knights of
Columbus honor guard who assisted at the service.

We express our gratitude to the members of the Society’s
Schola Cantorum who provided the beautiful music for the
procession and Mass.

We offer special thanks to Glenn Nelson and all who assisted
him in providing the elegant reception that followed the service.

We extend our deep gratitude to The Rev. Roman Kmiec, C.M.,
and Reverend Clergy of St. Stanislaus Church and members
of the parish for welcoming us into a new home so admirably
suited to the proper celebration of the Sacred Ceremonies.

And finally, we offer our most humbly thanks to Almighty God,
who has sustained us for twenty-five years in our mission
to preserve and promote the worship of God in the classical
Roman liturgy according to the Missal of Blessed Pope John XXIII.

* The Presentation of Our Lord in the Temple
Sunday, 7 February. Procession and Solemn Mass at 2:00 pm,
to be celebrated by The Rev. John Ringley, St. Lawrence
Church, Shelton. The service will be celebrated with special
pageantry and ceremony.

A landmark occasion in the spiritual and cultural life of the Elm City,
this event will be the first in a series of public functions marking
the 25th Jubilee of the return of the traditional Latin Mass
to our community offered in its age-old form. Sponsored by the
Saint Gregory Society of New Haven, these services commenced
at Sacred Heart Church in New Haven in January of 1986.

This festive observance of Candlemas will include the Blessing
of Candles, Procession, and Solemn Mass. Music for the service
performed by the Society’s Schola Cantorum, a vocal ensemble
of professional musicians internationally recognized for performances
in concert, recordings and media broadcasts of sacred music
and Gregorian chant in its original context–the sung Latin liturgy.
Musical works will include Palestrina’s “Missa Sicut lilium,”
motets by Victoria, Palestrina and Lasso, and the Gregorian
chants of the day. All in attendance are invited to a reception
which will immediately follow the Mass.
