SGS News Extra - Solemn TLM for the Midnight Mass of Christmas at St. Mary’s, Norwalk

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

Dear Friend of the Saint Gregory Society,

In September, SGS News Extra highlighted the important developments in
the implementation of “Summorum Pontificum” taking place at St. Mary’s
Church in Norwalk, CT, under the guidance its pastor (and our longtime
celebrant) Fr. Greg Markey:

http://www.saint-gregory.org/2008/09/sgs-news-extra-a-great-development-for-the-traditional-mass-in-connecticut/

We have recently received word of another great step in this
direction, and wish to bring it to your attention: Fr. Markey will
offer the Midnight Mass of Christmas as a Solemn Mass in the
traditional form. This must certainly be the first time this Mass has
been offered in this part of the country in many years. More details
are below in the excerpted email.

“St. Mary Church in Norwalk, Connecticut, is pleased to announce that
the Midnight Mass of Christmas will be a Solemn High Mass in the
Extraordinary Form. Christmas carols and an organ prelude will begin
at 11:30 p.m., and Mass will begin at midnight. The St. Mary’s Schola
Cantorum will sing the Missa O Magnum Mysterium of Tomas Luis de
Victoria, with the plainchant propers and motets of Victoria. The
9:30 a.m. Mass of Christmas Day will also, as usual, be a Solemn High
Mass with chant and polyphony. For directions or more information,
please visit the parish website: www.stmarynorwalk.net.”
