SGS News - Dedication of the Lateran Basilica

Dear Friend of the Saint Gregory Society,

Apologies to those of you who are still waiting for the promised
“round up” (i.e. photos) of the special Mass for Christ the King
at St. Mary’s Church — it’ll come as soon as we can muster the
time to put everything together.

It’s not every year that we get to celebrate the dedication of the
glorious Lateran Basilica in Rome, which is of course the Pope’s
own cathedral. Let’s all take this opportunity to renew our prayers
for him and his work, he who has given us so much already in
“Summorum Pontificum”: Dominus conservet eum et vivificet eum!

Our schedule for the next two Sundays is as follows:

* Dedication of the Basilica of Our Saviour
Sunday, November 9th. High Mass at 2pm, to be celebrated
by Fr. John Ringley (St. Lawrence, Shelton). The chant schola
will sing the Missa “Orbis factor” (Vatican Mass XI), plainsong
hymns (”Urbs beata Jerusalem” and “Angulare fundamentum”),
and all the proper Gregorian chants for the feast. The second
offering will go to support the work of the Saint Gregory Society.

* Twenty-Fifth Sunday after Pentecost
Sunday, November 16th. Low Mass at 2pm, to be celebrated
by Fr. Robert Boyd (St. Mary, Norwalk).

ALL MASSES TAKE PLACE IN SACRED HEART CHURCH,
NEW HAVEN (COLUMBUS AVENUE AT LIBERTY STREET,
NEAR UNION STATION).
