SGS News Update - Christ the King
Dear Friend of the Saint Gregory Society,
Apologies for the extra mailing, but there are a few things that
should have been mentioned in yesterday’s SGS News:
1) The preacher at the noon Mass at St. Mary’s on Sunday will now
be Fr. Paul Keller, OP. He will also be speaking afterward at the
reception on Pope Benedict’s liturgical “hermeneutic of continuity”
and the place of the traditional liturgy in the Church today. Not to
be missed!
2) We have been asked about the provision for communion in the
absence of a communion rail. Those who have trouble kneeling
will be pleased to hear that St. Mary’s has a few prie-dieux, and
we intend to put these out at communion time.
Finally, it has been brought to our attention that there will be a
special sung Mass on Sunday evening in Waterbury. The schola
director there, David Finley, is also the longstanding tenor soloist
in the Schola Cantorum of the Saint Gregory Society. He writes:
“The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Waterbury will be
celebrating Christ the King at 6pm with the Schola Cantorum singing
the Byrd Mass for Three Voices and motets as well as the propers
and all are welcome to attend. For more information they can contact
me at XXX-XXX-XXXX or my email tenorprimo@aol.com.”
We have opted to delete David’s phone number, lest it get cached
by Google when this message posts to our website; anyone who would
like to phone him should reply to this email and we’ll send it along.
Until Sunday!!
