SGS News - Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Dear Friend of the Saint Gregory Society,

Thanks to those of you who traveled to Stamford last Friday
for the Requiem Mass for Fr. Fitzpatrick. It was a very
moving occasion, and it should inspire us all both to cherish
the memory of a real friend and to renew our prayers for the
repose of his soul. By a strange coincidence, the text of the
Alleluia verse on the day Father died (the 10th Sunday after
Pentecost) is also the psalm verse attached to the Introit of
the Requiem Mass: “Te decet hymnus Deus in Sion, et tibi
reddetur votum in Jerusalem” (Ps 65:2). Verse 5 of the same
Psalm says: “Blessed is he whom thou hast chosen and
taken to thee: he shall dwell in thy courts. We shall be filled
with the good things of thy house; holy is thy temple.”

Our schedule for the next two Sundays is as follows:

* Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost
Sunday, August 3rd. Low Mass at 2pm, to be celebrated
by Fr. John Ringley (St. Lawrence, Shelton). The second
collection will be for Sacred Heart Church (monthly utilities).

* Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost
Sunday, August 10th. Low Mass at 2pm, to be celebrated
by Fr. Richard Cipolla (St. Mary, Norwalk).

ALL MASSES TAKE PLACE IN SACRED HEART CHURCH,
NEW HAVEN (COLUMBUS AVENUE AT LIBERTY STREET,
NEAR UNION STATION).

SGS News - Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Dear Friend of the Saint Gregory Society,

Please remember to keep our beloved chaplain, Fr. Kevin
Fitzpatrick, and his grieving family in your prayers. The
Requiem will be tomorrow morning at 10am at St. John
the Evangelist Church in downtown Stamford. We understand
that three priests from the Society will celebrate the Solemn
Mass. A small contingent from the SGS Schola will join
the St. John’s Choir in singing Victoria’s Requiem. Directions
to the church were posted in last week’s SGS News. If you
are planning to come, bear in mind that the traffic in southern
Fairfield County is terrible at that time of day. Conveniently,
the church is located within a few blocks of the train station.
Here are walking directions from Google Maps:

time the last message was sent and we can’t be sure it reached
everyone on the list.)
