SGS News - Twenty-First Sunday after Pentecost
Dear Friend of the Saint Gregory Society,
The twenty-first Sunday is a good time to call your attention
to the next special event on our calendar this year: the Mass
in celebration of the twenty-first(!) anniversary of our Society’s
founding. Save the date of November 11th. The festive Mass
will be followed by an equally festive reception. The full Schola
Cantorum of the Society will sing what is perhaps the most
famous polyphonic Mass ever written: the Missa Papae Marcelli
of Palestrina. You are warmly encouraged to attend, and to
bring a friend as well! Reminders and further details will follow
over the next few weeks.
Our schedule for the next two Sundays is as follows:
* Twenty-First Sunday after Pentecost
Sunday, October 21st. Low Mass at 2pm, to be celebrated
by Fr. Kevin Fitzpatrick (Holy Cross, Fairfield). The second
collection is for the Archdiocese’s support of our Catholic
Missions (Propaganda Fidei).
* Our Lord Jesus Christ the King
Sunday, October 28th. High Mass at 2pm, to be celebrated
by Fr. Greg Markey (St. Mary’s, Norwalk). The chant Schola
will sing Mass VIII (”De angelis”), plainsong hymns for the
feast, and all the proper Gregorian chants.
ALL MASSES TAKE PLACE IN SACRED HEART CHURCH,
NEW HAVEN (COLUMBUS AVENUE AT LIBERTY STREET,
NEAR UNION STATION).
