SGS News Extra - Martin Mosebach on the “Heresy of Formlessness”
Dear Friend of the Saint Gregory Society,
Preparations are well advanced for the visit to the area of the highly
acclaimed novelist and Catholic thinker Martin Mosebach. We are very
fortunate to be able to welcome him to New Haven, and very much hope
that you will be able to attend. PLEASE SAVE THE DATE, AND PLAN TO
BRING A FRIEND OR TWO!
This email is the first reminder of the New Haven event, and contains
full details of Mr. Mosebach’s presentations over the weekend of
September 7th-9th:
* New Haven presentation
Friday, September 7th, at 7:30pm, St. Mary’s Church Hall (5 Hillhouse Ave.)
* New Canaan presentation
Saturday, September 8th, at 5:30pm, New Canaan Library
* New York City presentation
Sunday, September 9, at 6:30 pm, Church of Our Savior (59 Park Ave. at
38th St.), immediately following the 5:00 pm Solemn High Mass (1962
Missal)
This series of talks has been made possible by the generosity of our
friends at the Society of St. Hugh of Cluny
(http://hughofcluny.blogspot.com/). To help defray expenses, a
voluntary retiring collection will be taken up after each
presentation. Mr. Mosebach’s book, “The Heresy of Formlessness”, will
also be available for purchase. A significant portion of the proceeds
of any sales will go to benefit the educational activities of the
Society of St. Hugh. The book is one of those very few “must reads” on
the subject of the Roman liturgy and the post-Vatican II reforms — if
you don’t already own it, you should, so plan to pick up a copy at the
talk!
For some background on the speaker and further details about the
events, see last week’s special email bulletin.
Finally, please do us a favor by printing a copy or two of the
flyer, and posting it in your local parish or circulating it
among your colleagues and friends. Together, we can ensure a good
turnout at St. Mary’s on the 7th!
