SGS News - Palm Sunday

Friday, March 30th, 2007

Dear Friend of the Saint Gregory Society,

Palm Sunday will be observed in the traditional Roman rite this
Sunday, April 1st, at 2pm in Sacred Heart Church, New Haven. The High
Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Greg Markey, pastor of St. Mary’s
Church in Norwalk. A full mixed choir (men and women) will sing
Lasso’s Missa Il me suffit; motets by Victoria, Palestrina, and Lasso;
and all the proper Gregorian chants. A reception will follow the Mass,
so please plan to stay for a short while and meet other like-minded
people who are sympathetic to the Society’s work.

Let me add — though it will be obvious to most of you — that there
is no better time of year than Holy Week to experience the Latin Mass
in all of its depth and splendor, whether it be for the first time or
just the first time in a long time. Therefore I encourage you to bring
your friends and families, and of course yourselves, to Sacred Heart
at some point during this time and “draw water joyfully from the font
of salvation”.

A final announcement regarding Sunday: Bill Riccio has asked that the
servers be in church by 1pm for a rehearsal of the Procession and
Mass.

Further details of the Good Friday and Easter Sunday liturgies will be
forthcoming in the next couple of days.

Apologies for the lateness of this email bulletin.
